How to Cut a Watermelon Like a Pumpkin

Cutting a watermelon like a pumpkin is an easy and fun way to serve the fruit. It’s also great for parties, as it looks impressive and can be served in slices. Here’s how to do it:

Step 1: Prepare the Watermelon

Start by washing the outside of the watermelon with soap and water. Then, cut off both ends of the watermelon so that it has flat surfaces on either side.

Step 2: Cut Out the Top

Using a sharp knife, cut out a circle from the top of the watermelon. This will be your “lid” for serving. Make sure to cut deep enough so that you can easily lift it off later.

Step 3: Scoop Out the Flesh

Using a spoon or melon baller, scoop out all of the flesh from inside the watermelon. Be sure to get as much of it as possible, as this will make it easier to slice later.

Step 4: Slice and Serve

Once all of the flesh has been removed, you can begin slicing the watermelon into wedges or cubes. Place them back into the hollowed-out shell and put the lid back on top. Serve immediately or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
