How to Do Extra Large Box Braids
Box braids are a classic style that can be worn in many different ways. If you’re looking for a bolder look, extra large box braids may be the perfect choice. This style is great for those who want to make a statement with their hair and it’s also easy to maintain. Here’s how to do extra large box braids.
Step 1: Prep Your Hair
Before you start braiding, it’s important to make sure your hair is properly prepped. Start by washing and conditioning your hair with a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. Once your hair is clean, use a wide-toothed comb to detangle any knots or tangles. You should also apply a leave-in conditioner or oil to help keep your hair hydrated while you braid.
Step 2: Section Your Hair
Once your hair is prepped, it’s time to section it off into four equal parts. Use clips or ties to keep each section separated while you work on the others. Make sure the sections are even so that all of your braids will be the same size.
Step 3: Start Braiding
Now it’s time to start braiding! Take one of the sections and divide it into three equal parts. Begin braiding the three strands together as if you were making a regular braid. When you reach the end of the section, secure the braid with an elastic band.
Step 4: Make Your Box Braids
To create your box braids, take one of the strands from the braid and separate it into two pieces. Then, take one of those pieces and cross it over the other piece, creating an “X” shape. Repeat this process until you reach the end of the braid and secure with an elastic band.
Step 5: Repeat
Repeat steps 3 and 4 for each section of your hair until all four sections have been braided into extra large box braids. Once all of your braids are complete, use some hairspray or gel to help keep them in place.
