Will Everclear Melt a Plastic Bottle?
Everclear is a brand of grain alcohol that is 95% alcohol by volume (ABV). It is one of the strongest alcoholic beverages available and is often used to make cocktails or other drinks. But can it melt a plastic bottle?
The Answer: No
Although Everclear is an extremely strong alcohol, it will not melt a plastic bottle. The reason for this is because plastic bottles are made from polyethylene terephthalate (PET), which has a melting point of around 260°C (500°F). Since Everclear has an ABV of only 95%, its boiling point is much lower than the melting point of PET, so it will not be able to melt the plastic.
However, it is important to note that if you were to leave a bottle of Everclear in direct sunlight for an extended period of time, the heat could cause the bottle to warp or deform. This is due to the fact that alcohol has a lower boiling point than water, so when exposed to high temperatures, the alcohol will evaporate faster than the water, causing the bottle to shrink.
