How Many Glasses to a Bottle?

The number of glasses that can be filled from one bottle depends on the size of the glass and the size of the bottle. Generally, a standard 750ml bottle of wine will fill approximately five 6-ounce glasses, while a 1.5L bottle will fill about ten 6-ounce glasses.

Factors That Affect How Many Glasses to a Bottle

The amount of liquid in a bottle is measured in milliliters (mL). A standard 750mL bottle contains 25 ounces of liquid, while a 1.5L bottle contains 50 ounces. The size of the glass also affects how many glasses can be filled from one bottle. A 6-ounce glass holds about 177mL, so it takes about 5 glasses to fill a 750mL bottle and 10 glasses to fill a 1.5L bottle.

However, if you are using larger glasses, such as 8-ounce or 12-ounce glasses, then fewer glasses will be needed to fill the same bottle. For example, an 8-ounce glass holds 236mL, so it would take only 4 glasses to fill a 750mL bottle and 8 glasses to fill a 1.5L bottle.
