Making a Plant in a Bottle
Creating a plant in a bottle is an easy and fun way to bring some greenery into your home. This project is great for kids and adults alike, and can be done with minimal supplies. Here’s how to make your own plant in a bottle.
Gather Your Supplies
You’ll need a clear glass or plastic bottle with a lid, potting soil, small stones or gravel, water, and a small plant of your choice. Make sure the bottle is clean and dry before you begin.
Add the Soil and Stones
Start by adding a layer of small stones or gravel to the bottom of the bottle. This will help with drainage. Next, add enough potting soil to fill the bottle about halfway. Make sure to pack it down firmly.
Plant Your Plant
Carefully remove your plant from its container and place it in the center of the bottle. Gently fill in around the roots with more potting soil until the plant is completely covered. Add more stones or gravel on top if desired.
Water Your Plant
Once your plant is planted, it’s time to water it. Fill up the bottle with water until it reaches just below the top of the soil. Put the lid on tightly and shake gently to distribute the water evenly throughout the soil.
