The story follows Issei Hyodo, a high school student who is reincarnated as a devil after being killed on his first date.

The original Highschool DXD light novel series was written by Ichiei Ishibumi and illustrated by Miyama-Zero. It began serialization in Fujimi Shobo’s Dragon Magazine in 2008, and has since been collected into twenty-two volumes as of April 2020. The light novel series has sold over 20 million copies worldwide.
Manga
The Highschool DXD manga adaptation was written by Hiroji Mishima and illustrated by Zero Miyama. It began serialization in Fujimi Shobo’s Monthly Dragon Age magazine in 2010, and has since been collected into sixteen tankÅbon volumes as of April 2020. The manga has also been licensed for release in North America by Seven Seas Entertainment.
