Where is the Green Sidelight Located on a Boat?
The green sidelight is located on the starboard (right) side of the boat. It is typically mounted near the bow, or front, of the boat and is used to indicate that the vessel is moving in a starboard direction. The green sidelight should be visible from any angle up to two points abaft the beam, which is approximately 112.5 degrees off the bow.
Purpose of the Green Sidelight
The green sidelight serves as an important navigational aid for other vessels in the area. By illuminating this light, it indicates to other boats that your vessel is moving in a starboard direction. This helps to prevent collisions between vessels by providing a visual indication of your vessel’s movement.
