USS Arizona
The USS Arizona was a Pennsylvania-class battleship that was sunk during the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. The ship was commissioned in 1916 and served in World War I before being decommissioned in 1919. It was recommissioned in 1920 and served as part of the Pacific Fleet until it was destroyed during the Japanese attack.
Fate of the USS Arizona
The USS Arizona was hit by several bombs during the attack on Pearl Harbor, causing it to sink quickly. Of the 1,512 crew members aboard at the time, 1,177 were killed. The wreckage of the ship still lies at the bottom of Pearl Harbor and is now a memorial to those who lost their lives during the attack.
