Attaching Cement Board to a Shower Pan
Cement board is a great material for tiling showers and other wet areas. It is waterproof, durable, and easy to install. However, it must be securely attached to the shower pan in order to ensure that it will not come loose over time. Here are the steps for attaching cement board to a shower pan.
Step 1: Prepare the Shower Pan
Before you begin attaching the cement board, you need to make sure that the shower pan is clean and free of any debris or dirt. Use a vacuum cleaner or brush to remove any dust or dirt from the surface of the pan.
Step 2: Apply Adhesive
Once the shower pan is clean, you can apply an adhesive to the back of the cement board. Make sure that you spread it evenly across the entire surface of the board. Allow it to dry completely before proceeding.
Step 3: Attach Cement Board
Once the adhesive has dried, you can attach the cement board to the shower pan. Start at one corner and press down firmly on each side as you work your way around. Make sure that all edges are firmly pressed against the pan so that there are no gaps between them.
Step 4: Secure with Screws
Finally, use screws to secure the cement board in place. Place screws every 8-10 inches along all edges of the board. This will ensure that it is securely attached and will not come loose over time.
