How to Get Your Cat to Let Go of a Bird

If your cat has caught a bird, it can be difficult to get them to let go. Cats are natural hunters and may not want to give up their prey. However, there are some steps you can take to help your cat release the bird safely.

Step 1: Remain Calm

The first step is to remain calm. If you become angry or agitated, your cat may become scared and hold onto the bird even tighter. Speak in a soothing voice and try to distract your cat with treats or toys.

Step 2: Wear Gloves

It is important to wear gloves when attempting to remove the bird from your cat’s grasp. This will protect both you and the bird from any potential scratches or bites.

Step 3: Gently Pry Open Their Mouth

Once you have put on gloves, gently pry open your cat’s mouth with your fingers. Be careful not to hurt them as they may bite if startled. Once their mouth is open, carefully remove the bird from their grasp.

Step 4: Release the Bird

Once you have removed the bird from your cat’s mouth, take it outside and release it into its natural habitat. Make sure that the area is safe for the bird before releasing it.
