Who Owns Knott’s Berry Farm?

Knott’s Berry Farm is an amusement park located in Buena Park, California. It is owned by Cedar Fair Entertainment Company, a publicly traded partnership that also owns and operates eleven other amusement parks, four outdoor water parks, one indoor water park, and five hotels.

History of Knott’s Berry Farm

Knott’s Berry Farm was founded in 1920 by Walter Knott and his wife Cordelia. The couple began selling berries, jams, and pies from a roadside stand near their farm in Buena Park. In 1940, the Knotts opened a replica ghost town on their property which became an instant hit with visitors. Over the years, the Knotts added more attractions to the park including roller coasters, shows, and other rides.

Cedar Fair Entertainment Company

In 1997, Cedar Fair Entertainment Company purchased Knott’s Berry Farm from the Knotts family for $112 million. Since then, Cedar Fair has invested millions of dollars into the park to improve its attractions and add new ones. Today, Knott’s Berry Farm is one of the most popular amusement parks in the United States.
