Getting Rid of Bumble Bees on Your Deck

Bumble bees can be a nuisance when they decide to make your deck their home. Fortunately, there are several steps you can take to get rid of them and keep them away.

Step 1: Remove the Nest

The first step in getting rid of bumble bees is to remove the nest. This should be done carefully, as bumble bees can sting if disturbed. Wear protective clothing such as long sleeves and pants, and use a vacuum cleaner or shop vac to suck up the nest. If possible, try to do this at night when the bees are less active.

Step 2: Seal Up Entry Points

Once the nest has been removed, it’s important to seal up any potential entry points that the bees may use to get back into your deck. Check for cracks or gaps in the wood and seal them with caulk or expanding foam. You should also check around windows and doors for any openings that could allow the bees access.

Step 3: Use Natural Repellents

Finally, you can use natural repellents such as peppermint oil or citrus oil to keep the bumble bees away from your deck. Simply mix a few drops of essential oil with water in a spray bottle and spray it around your deck. The scent will help deter the bees from coming back.

By following these steps, you should be able to get rid of bumble bees on your deck and keep them away for good!
