How to Salt Bath a Steak

Salting a steak is an easy and effective way to add flavor and tenderness to the meat. Salting a steak before cooking it helps to draw out moisture, which helps to create a juicy, flavorful steak. The process of salting a steak is known as “salt-bating” and it involves soaking the steak in a saltwater solution for several hours or overnight.

Steps for Salt Bathing a Steak

1. Begin by combining 1 cup of kosher salt with 4 cups of cold water in a large bowl or container. Stir until the salt has dissolved completely.

2. Place the steak in the saltwater solution and make sure it is completely submerged. Cover the container with plastic wrap or a lid and place it in the refrigerator.

3. Allow the steak to soak in the saltwater solution for at least 4 hours, but preferably overnight.

4. When you are ready to cook the steak, remove it from the saltwater solution and pat dry with paper towels.

5. Season the steak with your favorite seasonings and cook according to your desired method.
