Removing a Stainless Steel Tub
Removing a stainless steel tub can be a difficult task, but with the right tools and knowledge it can be done. Before beginning the process, make sure to turn off the water supply to the tub and disconnect any plumbing connections. It is also important to wear protective gear such as gloves, safety glasses, and a dust mask.
Step 1: Remove the Faucet
The first step in removing a stainless steel tub is to remove the faucet. This can be done by unscrewing the nuts that hold it in place. Once the nuts are removed, carefully lift the faucet off of the tub and set it aside.
Step 2: Cut Through Caulk
Once the faucet has been removed, use a utility knife to cut through any caulk that may be holding the tub in place. Be careful not to damage any of the surrounding walls or flooring while doing this.
Step 3: Remove Tub from Wall
Next, use a pry bar or crowbar to carefully remove the tub from its wall mountings. If there are screws holding it in place, use a screwdriver to remove them. Once all of the mounting hardware has been removed, carefully lift the tub out of its space.
Step 4: Dispose of Tub
Finally, dispose of the old stainless steel tub properly. Depending on your local regulations, you may need to take it to a recycling center or hazardous waste facility. Make sure to follow all applicable laws when disposing of your old tub.
