The Music for Spongebob the Musical
Spongebob the Musical is a musical adaptation of the popular Nickelodeon cartoon series, Spongebob Squarepants. The music for the show was written by a team of composers and lyricists, including Yolanda Adams, Steven Tyler, Sara Bareilles, Jonathan Coulton, Alex Ebert, The Flaming Lips, Lady Antebellum, Cyndi Lauper, John Legend, Panic! At The Disco, Plain White T’s, They Might Be Giants and T.I.
Yolanda Adams
Grammy Award-winning gospel singer Yolanda Adams wrote several songs for Spongebob the Musical. She wrote the song “Bikini Bottom Day” which is performed in the opening number of the show. She also wrote “Super Sea Star Savior”, a duet between Spongebob and Sandy Cheeks.
Steven Tyler
Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler wrote two songs for Spongebob the Musical: “No Control” and “BFF”. Both songs are performed by Squidward Tentacles and feature Tyler’s signature rock sound.
