Ball Ground, Georgia

Ball Ground is a city located in Cherokee County, Georgia. It is situated in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains and is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area. The population was 1,433 at the 2010 census.

History of Ball Ground

The area that is now Ball Ground was first settled by European-Americans in 1832. The town was originally known as “Harmony Hill” and later changed its name to “Ball Ground” after a local game of ball played by Native Americans. The town was incorporated in 1887 and has since grown to become a thriving community.

Things to Do in Ball Ground

Ball Ground offers plenty of activities for visitors and residents alike. There are several parks and trails for outdoor recreation, including the Etowah River Park and the Appalachian Trail. The city also hosts an annual festival called “Festival on the Square” which features live music, food vendors, and other entertainment.
