How to Change Ball Joints on a 2014 Ram 2500

Changing the ball joints on a 2014 Ram 2500 is an important part of regular maintenance. Ball joints are responsible for connecting the suspension components to the wheels, and if they become worn or damaged, it can cause serious problems with your vehicle’s handling. Fortunately, changing them is relatively straightforward and can be done in a few simple steps.

Step 1: Raise the Vehicle

The first step is to raise the vehicle off the ground using a jack and jack stands. Make sure that you place the jack stands securely under the frame of the vehicle before you begin working. Once the vehicle is raised, remove the wheel from the side you will be working on.

Step 2: Remove Old Ball Joints

Next, use a ball joint separator tool to remove the old ball joints from their mounting points. This tool should be available at any auto parts store. Once you have removed the old ball joints, inspect them for signs of wear or damage. If they are damaged, replace them with new ones.

Step 3: Install New Ball Joints

Now it’s time to install the new ball joints. Start by lubricating them with grease before inserting them into their mounting points. Make sure that they are properly seated and secure before moving on to the next step.

Step 4: Reinstall Wheel and Lower Vehicle

Once you have installed the new ball joints, reinstall the wheel and lower the vehicle back onto the ground. Make sure that all of your tools are put away and that everything is secure before taking your vehicle out for a test drive.
