Introducing Chickpeas to Your Baby
Chickpeas are a great source of protein, fiber, and other essential vitamins and minerals. They can be a healthy addition to your baby’s diet, but it is important to introduce them at the right time.
When Can I Introduce Chickpeas to My Baby?
The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends introducing solid foods to babies when they are between 4-6 months old. At this age, babies should be able to sit up with support and have good head control. It is also important that your baby shows signs of readiness for solid foods, such as being able to open their mouth when food is offered or showing interest in what you are eating.
Once your baby is ready for solid foods, you can start introducing chickpeas. Start by offering small amounts of mashed or pureed chickpeas mixed with breast milk or formula. As your baby gets used to the texture and taste of chickpeas, you can gradually increase the amount and add more spices or herbs for flavor.
