Can You Touch Baby Bunnies?
Baby bunnies, or kits, are incredibly cute and fluffy. It can be tempting to want to pick them up and cuddle them, but it is important to know when it is safe to do so.
When Can You Touch Baby Bunnies?
It is generally recommended that you wait until baby bunnies are at least 8 weeks old before handling them. At this age, they should have been weaned from their mother and will be better able to handle the stress of being handled. Before 8 weeks, the kits may still be dependent on their mother for food and warmth, and handling them could cause unnecessary stress.
If you must handle a baby bunny before 8 weeks of age, make sure you do so very gently and for as short a time as possible. Make sure your hands are clean and warm, as cold hands can shock the bunny. Also make sure you support the bunny’s body with both hands while holding it.
