Changing Your SGLI Army
Servicemembers Group Life Insurance (SGLI) is a low-cost group life insurance program for members of the United States Armed Forces. If you are an active duty member of the military, you may be eligible to enroll in SGLI and receive coverage up to $400,000. Changing your SGLI army is a simple process that can be done online or by mail.
Online Process
The easiest way to change your SGLI army is through the online portal. To do this, you will need to log into your account on the Department of Veterans Affairs website. Once logged in, you will be able to select the “Change My SGLI” option from the menu. From there, you will be able to enter your new information and submit it for processing.
By Mail
If you prefer not to use the online portal, you can also change your SGLI army by mail. To do this, you will need to fill out a form called SF 2823 and mail it to the address listed on the form. Be sure to include all of the required information and sign the form before sending it off.
Once your request has been processed, your new SGLI army will be updated in your records. It is important to keep track of any changes made so that you can ensure that your coverage remains up-to-date.
