The Arch in St Louis
The Gateway Arch in St Louis, Missouri is an iconic landmark of the city. It stands 630 feet tall and is the tallest man-made monument in the United States. The arch was designed by Finnish-American architect Eero Saarinen and completed in 1965.
How Many Stories is the Arch?
Despite its impressive height, the Gateway Arch only has two stories. The first story is located at the base of the arch and houses a museum and visitor center. The second story is located at the top of the arch and contains an observation deck with views of downtown St Louis and the Mississippi River.
The two stories are connected by a tram system that takes visitors up to the observation deck. The tram ride takes approximately four minutes and offers spectacular views of St Louis from inside the arch.
