The Lifespan of an Ant
Ants are one of the most common insects in the world, and they have a surprisingly long lifespan. Depending on the species, ants can live anywhere from a few weeks to several years.
Worker Ants
Worker ants are the most common type of ant and they typically live for about one to three years. They are responsible for gathering food, caring for larvae, and protecting the colony. Worker ants do not reproduce, so their main purpose is to serve the colony.
Queen Ants
Queen ants are the reproductive members of the colony and they can live up to 15 years. Queen ants lay eggs that will become worker ants or new queens. They also produce pheromones that help keep the colony together.
