Ant Man’s Name
The superhero known as Ant Man is actually a name shared by two different Marvel Comics characters. The original Ant Man was Hank Pym, a scientist who invented a size-altering formula that allowed him to shrink down to the size of an ant. The second Ant Man is Scott Lang, a thief who stole the suit and technology from Hank Pym and used it for his own heroic purposes.
Hank Pym
Hank Pym was the original Ant Man, first appearing in Tales to Astonish #27 in 1962. He was a brilliant scientist who developed a serum that allowed him to shrink down to the size of an ant while still retaining his normal strength. He also had the ability to communicate with ants and control them using his helmet.
Scott Lang
Scott Lang is the second character to take on the mantle of Ant Man. He first appeared in Marvel Premiere #47 in 1979. Scott was originally a thief who stole Hank Pym’s technology and used it for his own gain. Eventually, he realized the potential of the suit and decided to use it for good, becoming a hero in his own right.
